Williams WR24-7 Turbojet engine
A nice little turbojet engine manufactured by Williams International. An innovative design featuring compressor air driven accessories including the fuel and oil systems with electronic control. Descended from the previous model the WR24 the engine features an additional axial compressor section. A relatively conventional small engine design but uses no driven accessories or external electric motors. Compressor bleed air is used to pressurise the fuel system and an electronic control unit senses engine speed from the generator and effects proportional fuel flow control with a valve mounted adjacent to the electronic control unit. Lubrication is achieved by creating an “oil mist” again using compressor air discharging through a venturi. Oil is drawn up from a small reservoir and a mist is formed that is ducted to the bearings. A special switched reluctance generator unit provides power to recharge batteries and power avionic equipment on the attached airframe.
